After reading some of the negatively-oriented reviews, I was not expecting very much. However, I was pleasantly surprised in just about every aspect of my stay here. Facilities were clean and the carpet looked pretty new. Check-in person was very pleasant and helpful. I was on the third floor and it was quiet. One negative could be the grounds are not secured in that anyone could walk up to your door, but that is a given for a motel style facility.
I think this was a very good value for the money, and I will stay here again on my next visit to Sacramento..

This is a marginal and run-down 70's, very tired property desperately in need of renovation. Continental breakfast was very minimal - but a Starbucks is luckily within walking distance. There is internet - friendly staff, clean rooms, but you get less than what you pay for.

Obviously a bit shabby. But for $69 a night during the California bar exam it can't be beat. Service was excelent, room was quiet and reasonably clean, and locatin was perfect (4 blocks from concention center where the exam was administered). The management allowed me to check in early and check in late. They also let me keep my luggage in the front office during the last afternoon of the test. Housekeeping was exceptionally nice and even arranged study materials I had scattered around the room in a final cramming session. I can't imagine having a better experience at any of the 4 star hotels that were charfing $200-300 a night.

This motel is much better than it was a few years ago. I stayed at this hotel back in 2006, and the service was rather poor, the front desk staff was not too friendly, and the rooms were a bit shabby. I didn't intend to return, but when my hotel was overbooked they referred me to the Econo Lodge. Since it was late and I was tired, I agreed.

What a HUGE IMPROVEMENT!! I spoke with the person on duty and learned they replaced the previous manager in October 2007, and made other changes as well. It definitely shows. The front desk person was very friendly, my room was clean, the free internet worked well, the furniture and carpet were relatively new, and the coffee and danishes for breakfast were fine. Certainly nothing deluxe, but adequate, and very convenient to the Convention Center (where I needed to go). It is a basic, limited frills motel, but better than Motel 6, and much better than before.

Very good value for the money, I would definitely stay again.

In the 45 minutes I stayed at this hotel I was bitten by fleas while I was in the lobby, and locked in the bathroom of my room because there was no doorhandle on the inside of the bathroom. I had to yell at a homeless guy down on the street to ask him to go into the office and tell the owners to let me out. When they finally did (apparently they didn't believe the homeless guy, because I could hear them shouting at him) they refused to give me a refund because I had already stayed in the room (!)and accused me of stealing the doorknob (not true!) and ripping the screen off of the bathroom window (true!).
I checked into the Holiday Inn across the street and had a great stay.
A hotel that makes Fawlty Towers look like a well-run establishment.
