There is a window (like a drive through restaurant) and signs posted that you will be charged extra if you pick up keys between midnight and 7, and a minuscule lobby. The lobby had signs informing you that there was a minumum of $5 for phone calls, that internet cost as well, that you would be charged for anything missing from rooms, etc. etc. The clerk in the lobby took our photo id's and charge cards and handed us the tv remote. We had to walk up three flights of stairs as there was no elevator on that side of the bulding. The rooms (we had 2) opened off one door. The carpeting was old and soiled, the counters had cigarette burns, nail polish spills, etc. There was a TV attached to the wall, and a small frig and microwave. There were no tissues, clocks, bed side lamps, and all the towels were small and thin. The furniture had stains and was tired. The bathroom was very clean, and there were a few little wrapped soaps on the tub. In the parking lot were dilapidated campers with people living in them. There was a contractor replacing tiles and counters in the bathrooms - he had not gotten to our room.
The rooms were not cheap ($80 each). We were booked here when we could not get another hotel in the area - this was the last resort (no pun intended!)
