My wife and I stayed here for one night on our way to San Francisco. Pros about this hotel: the property and rooms are quite new. The free breakfast is quite good with warm items (yummy oatmeal, microwave egg biscuit sandwiches, belgian waffles) and standard continental breakfast items. The location is pretty close to the Arden Fair Mall (approximately 5 to 10 minutes away by car) where there are dining and shopping options. Reasonable price: $105 per night with AAA membership.
Cons: it can be noisy at night like one previous post stated. there are at least 3 or 4 trains that run through nearby and signal when they pass. the mattress is also weird...it feels like sleeping on a soft spongy mattress. i can imagine it being uncomfortable for people with bad backs. luckily i didn't have any problems, but it was an unusual mattress. There is no in-room safe or mini-fridge.
overall, the hotel room is nice, new and generic. A great breakfast, but a bit noisy at night with the trains passing by and the funky foam mattress may be a problem with some.

Bad beds for people with back pain

Opened only a few months ago, this is one of the newest Marriott hotels in the Sacramento area. The location is great: a bit hard to find but right in the middle of everything. The huge Arden Fair Mall is only a few miles away as are many restaurants. Rooms and common areas look beautiful, all necessary amenities are available and service is friendly and accessible. But there is one major flaw: A few years ago Marriott exchanged the mattresses in all its hotels after a wave of complaints from customers and the press. To our great surprise this brand new Fairfield has soft and soggy mattresses comparable to the old ones that Marriott promised not to use any more. For back pain sufferers these mattresses are extremely uncomfortable and can ruin your whole stay. I woke up from pain after only one hour of sleep. The manager let me try out the mattresses in five other rooms. They were all the same. The next morning I went to the Marriott Town Place hotel right next door, also a brand new hotel: They have noticeably different mattresses that are perfectly fine. What is going on with Marriott? Since we found the soft beds in another Fairfield a few days later (in Tracy, CA) we will now check beds in every Marriott hotel before moving in. What good does the most wonderful environment do if you can't get the necessary rest? By the way: This is the first Fairfield hotel I visited that charges for every minute of use of their downstairs computer.

This hotel is fairly new and looks it. Very clean and kept up appearance. Nice little continental breakfast area that's for free every morning. Great location next to the fairgrounds (walking distance). Just next door to the Courtyard which has a nice bar for a cold beer or two. The Arden mall and many restaurants are within a mile or two. Really the only downside for this hotel is that is was noisy. The train tracks are nearby and the they must have to blow the horns while passing through. They did this every morning and the trash cans were on the same side of the hotel and emptied daily or so it seemed. I guess if you stay on the opposite side it may not be so noisy. Other than that it wasnt a bad place to stay.

Very friendly staff, very clean hotel, beds where extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a little crowded but probably just the time we choose to go down there. It was 105 outside both days but our room was so cool. Only drawback was the noise. fairly thin walls and trains tracks nearby. All in all though, for the price with AAA, it was worth it.

This hotel is a little off the beaten path in Sacramento, so we got lost and had to call twice before we finally found it (we even had mapquest directions), but it was worth it. It is kinda hidden so it is very quiet. There is a restaurant next door in the Courtyard Marriot and they have phenomenal paninis. The room was so clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I felt safe too, as you had to use your key card to get into any door other than the lobby. Service is friendly, breakfast is decent, overall, it was a great place to stay. We will probably be back.

  • Liked — The comfort it provided to relax and get some much needed R and R time!
  • Disliked — Location. It was hard to find and not much was in the area.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Also check out the courtyard Marriot next door. It was really nice.
