We had a paid two-nights' stay, paid for in advance for a great rate, and we drove all that way, only to be told at the counter they were overbooked and our rooms were gone. We even called that day and night before and they said there were plenty of rooms. I would not expect this from a Marriott. The man at the counter and Guest relations were not really caring at all, just basically too bad, and gave us a paid stay at a noisy hotel next to the freeway. This from a Marriott? This is such a nice hotel, but the staff, management and reservations agents need to get in synch.

I have had really terrible luck with airport hotels, but this Residence Inn was an amazing exception. For less than $100 I got a beautiful suite with free high-speed wireless and transportation to the airport. Everything was clean and remarkably well-designed, although as with most hotels I found the decor to be a bit dull.

The only thing I can think to criticize is the food. There is no room service (although you can get deliveries) and the free breakfast looked disgusting. Luckily there is a small strip mall near the property, with the requisite Starbucks and Baja Fresh.

The hotel sits behind a plot of land that is being developed, and several tractor trailers parked there overnight. I had no problem with this, but I can imagine that some might be a bit wary about walking around after dark. Of course, this won't be a problem once that building is completed.

I travel frequently on business and have stayed at this property several times. I was just there. The suites are spacious and clean. The hot breakfast was delicious. I have always found the area very quiet and peaceful.

It is also obvious that this is a very well managed property. The grounds are always neat and tidy. Housekeeping does an excellent job. They are also very helpful and friendly at reception.

Recommend highly without hesitation.

We traveled to Sacto with our family. I called the hotel directly to make reservations, explained our situation completely and asked the desk clerk's advice on how to best serve our needs.

We needed to accomodate a married couple, three boys and one girlfriend. Since the double bedroom suite sleeps six, this was the clerk's first choice. I pointed out that the girlfriend needed her own bed. The clerk then suggested a double suite for the couple and the girlfriend and a studio suite for the boys. I agreed and asked that the rooms be as close as possible. The rooms were reserved. Later, I called back to ask if we could have two studios and was told all the studios were booked. I asked to be put on a waiting list.

The clerk failed to point out that 'as close as possible' meant that we would be two buildings apart. When we arrived at 1:30 am, we had to shuffle clothing between the two locations.

The next morning, I called to ask for a studio. There was no problem moving us to a room nearby. We were charged full price for the two bedroom, even though we were in it for about 6 hours.

That's the bad news. The good is that the rooms were very nice and the grounds well kept. The breakfast was tasty. although the buffet area was very crowded.

The hotel was a little difficult to find as it is set well back from the Main Road and not really visible from the street. There is a tiny sign and you really have to look for it. Overall the location is good and not far from the freeway, once you know where it is.

There are bottles of water in the room, but if you drink them, they cost 2.50 each.

The pool is in the center of the complex and was clean but somewhat small.

Great place to stay. Can be a bit pricey during the week. The rooms are clean and you have a shopping center across the street. The river is near by with many restaurants. Close to the freeways so its easy to get around. Close to downtown and old town Sacramento. The only complaints would be the pool could be warmer and the free food for breakfast and dinner could be a bit better quality. But its free so how can you really complain about that?
Not to mention free beer and wine during the week for happy hour.
Overall its a great stay. I would stay here again when in the area.
