This is the second time we stayed at this location, we should have learned our lesson the first time. The hotel must offer discounted rates to patrons of the night club around the corner. Loud drunken club patrons stroll back and forth through the hotel walkways and parking areas all night long. Once the club closes, it gets worse with people staggering back to their rooms at 2, 3 & 4 in the morning. I shouldn't forget to mention that there's a Dennys right next door, so you get more of the same drunken loudness as the club patrons stumble up to their rooms on a full stomach at 6 and 7am. This is not blown out of proportion, this happened during two different stays. We just passed the first night off as a fluke. The hotel seems to be aware of the issue but does nothing to stop it. They also don't patrol the parking and while you have a parking permit to stay at the hotel, you may not be able to park there. I will say, the location is great if you're visiting Old Sacramento, but it's horrid if you like to actually sleep in your hotel room.

This hotel/motel is located within site of the Amtrak station, Old Town Sacramento, and the California State Railroad Museam.
We walked easily to all three. The rooms were nice and clean. It is an old style motel room but completely renovated. Front desk people were very nice and helpful. Breakfast room was always full but breakfast very good. There is a Denny's restaurant next door. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We ate the next night at Old Towne. The room rate was great for this part of towne. The Holiday Inn nearby wanted 300.00 + per night.

I was delighted with the Vagabond near Old Town Sacramento. I lead a group folks over 50 years of age. We wanted to do a train trip to the Sierra's but required a hotel near the train station for an overnight both going and coming from our destination. I knew there was a hotel nearby and found it on Yahoo. When I read the reviews I was slightly worried. However, to my surprise my 28 fellow travelers all agreed...

1. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated, comfortable and very suitable for our needs.
2. The location is great.
3. The breakfast was above average for a free breakfast and the waffle's that you cooked yourself were great.

With the train station literally within a block, it is a perfect location. A Denny's is next door, and Old Town with many restaurants and places to visit within an easy walk.

I highly recommend.

My wife and I were touring California, travelling from L up to Lake Tahoe and we booked to stay at the Vagabond Inn due to its proximity to Old Town, I must admit that after reading several reviews regarding the Inn and its location, I was a little apprehensive, however, all my fears were totally ill founded. The room we had was at the other to the freeway, quiet, good size, clean and the Inn was in easy walking distance to Old Town. Although I had been to Sacramento previously on business, this was the first time we had been on vacation. I would thoroughly recomend taying there, thee was a good breakfast as well, plenty to choose from
