Hotel was priced very cheaply but was still a Radisson which was why I chose it. I was not planning on staying in Sacramento, but it snowed in the pass to Tahoe and I opted not to risk the drive over at night in the snow. Most other choices I considered first (e.g., Embassy Suites) were booked.
We showed up at night at what made me nervous was the the rooms are accessed from the exterior and it was very dark. During the day the hotel (motel, really) was fine and I felt a little silly for feeling nervous at night, but I do not like the layout. It would be easy to break in to cars and the front desk is far from the rooms.
The room itself was pretty nice with a high ceiling and had a view of the little lake. I did not like that the bathroom window opened out to the hallway. This was a safety concern to me. We tried the restaurant for breakfast and it smelled musty. Our waitress was a little bit of a trip, too.
I wouldn't stay here again just based on the uneasy feeling the place gave me. I did hear the trains (barely) but that was the least of my concerns. I still rate 3 stars because the grounds and the room were nicer than I thought they would be for the price.
