The Radisson website made this look much better than it really was. Although it was conveniently located about 10 minutes from downtown, the neighborhood was a bit odd. I would not really recommend this hotel if you are traveling with kids. The room doors open to the outside, not a hallway.

Hotel was priced very cheaply but was still a Radisson which was why I chose it. I was not planning on staying in Sacramento, but it snowed in the pass to Tahoe and I opted not to risk the drive over at night in the snow. Most other choices I considered first (e.g., Embassy Suites) were booked.

We showed up at night at what made me nervous was the the rooms are accessed from the exterior and it was very dark. During the day the hotel (motel, really) was fine and I felt a little silly for feeling nervous at night, but I do not like the layout. It would be easy to break in to cars and the front desk is far from the rooms.

The room itself was pretty nice with a high ceiling and had a view of the little lake. I did not like that the bathroom window opened out to the hallway. This was a safety concern to me. We tried the restaurant for breakfast and it smelled musty. Our waitress was a little bit of a trip, too.

I wouldn't stay here again just based on the uneasy feeling the place gave me. I did hear the trains (barely) but that was the least of my concerns. I still rate 3 stars because the grounds and the room were nicer than I thought they would be for the price.

This hotel is near the Sacramento fair grounds and is located in a quiet area. I would recommend that you stay at the nearby Double Tree or Hilton instead. The hotel is very spread out with a confusing layout so that persons with limited mobility (or lots to carry) may find it difficult. The rooms are old and not well maintained.

But the worst is the service. Before I came I had lots of trouble with my reservation and had to call several times to get the conference rate. During my stay they assigned my room to another traveler who entered my room and fortunately for me, immediately figured out that it was occupied and left. (I was out at the time). When I came back my room key didn't work and after a hike to the front desk, I was told nothing about this incident and chided for keeping my key next to my cell phone. Accidentally, I found out later what had happened. When I checked out, I complained and was told that it was a computer error -- no apologies offered.
This is not a hotel that cares about customers despite its claims.

Radisson Hotel Sacramento
So, as my Husband (robins_sweetie) stated It was very nice. The 1st night was a Friday, Holiday Weekend, So I guess the Trains figured it a good time to move freight around in the freight yard all night. So not much sleep to be had there.
After that night however, I will say that I really didn't notice hearing the trains. It was Magnificent ALL Weekend.
We met New Friends from all over the place. Sat in the Hot Tub @ night chatting with new friends, as well as by ourselves. Early morning swimming and Hot Tub, watching the Geese swimming in the Lake, the Waterfall Blowing in the Middle, Absolutely Wonderful. A weekend to be remembered.
Also available for rental are Peddle Boats to tool around in the lake.
The Dining I thought to be a bit Pricey, however the Food was Great. Also there is a "Coffee Shop" Right around the Back Side as well as a Costco/Gas(also). Other type of eateries not far away, so if you're there for the Food, Good for you, If you'd like a bit lower in Price, Scout around.
Staff was very Helpful with Questions, and such. Nice and Cherry.
I will also say that besides the Water and Food amenities, there is also an Exercise Pathway along the Backside Fence of the Property, if you're looking for an Outdoor Experience, hunt it down, They have the Bench Sit Ups Bench, etc...

Found a great rate directly with Radisson website ($55 a night)
Its a bit off the beaten path for Sacramento, but for me i think thats a good thing. I know Sacramento sufficently well to get around so it was fine for me. Its just off a minor freeway, no traffic noise to speak of, also very close to Cal Expo without being on top of hustle and bustle.
Yes as previous reviewers note, the Trains CAN be a problem if you dont like being woke up at 2.30 in the morning. Honestly though it was only a problem one night of the three we were there. As we had asked when we checked in and told it would not be a problem where they placed us in the hotel, upon our complaint, the front desk staff responded by comping us for that nights stay and also offered us breakfast. (the breakfast wasnt much to speak about but at least they did try)
It was a very relaxing stay for us, the pool is nice and is right by the lake and both the pool and spa are open late (11pm) It was real nice to be in the spa late at night watching the fountain, just enjoying the ambience of the resort
The room was nice, good size, decent bathroom. The sleep number bed was ok, would have been better if i actually knew what my sleep number was. The pillows i wish i could have kept as a souvenir!
We enjoyed our stay and we absolutely would come back
