The place is nice. In house bars / restaurants are nice. Outdoor patio and swimming pool are nice. The rooms lack adequate power outlets for iron, cell phone, laptop etc.. The wireless internet is $10 per day. All around I noticed that all incidentals are too expensive. FOr returning to the airport there is a Super Shuttle that is $13 that runs on the 1/2 hour which was nice since taxi was $30. Very closely located near the capital bldg about 9 blocks (20 minutes walking) to Old Sacramento.

I need start off with that I got a great deal on Priceline-$80 a night-almost 40% off the published rate on hyatt's website.
With that said, I probably wouldn't pay more than $80 a night for this hotel.
The lobby is standard, the front desk staff was courteous. The hotel was very busy as we were staying there during a junior prom!
The room was somewhat dissappointing. I agree with all the others who said the a/c, heater is WAY to loud and starts and stops all night. It woke me up several times a night and that was pretty dissappointing. Also, the street noise was very loud and every reving motorcycle could be heard easily in our room.
We did order room service (dessert). Very standard, pricey and nothing to write home about.
I think if you are expecting a 3 star hotel and you get a good rate than this hotel is fine. I wouldn't pay hyatt's rates to stay here though.

“Loved The Hyatt”

This hotel is a tower of luxury. it is located in lively downtown sacramento. The staff was very nice and helpful and check-in was very fast. the hotel is right across the street from the convention center which is very helpful because my sister had a tournament there. the beds were very comfortable. the pool was a bit dirty in the bottom but the pool deck had drink service from the bar inside. Also the hotel was kind of in darker area than the sheraton grand. the was clearly much less light.

    • Disliked — it was in a poorly lighted area

“Good hotel, standard Hyatt”

I stayed at this hotel for business. It is centrally located and right across from the State Capitol, which is nice. This is a standard Hyatt hotel, very nice hotel staff and standard Hyatt food. The room was clean, but the bed was set off at an angle. The walls in the room were thin because I could hear the rumblings of the carts that the hotel personnel used because my room was next to the employee hallway. I had a couch in my room, which was good for taking naps. The bathroom door was strange in that it didn't close all the way. Food at the Hyatt is standard hotel fare. The breakfast buffet is nice because you can pick and choose whatever you want to eat. Service is great here and everyone, from the house cleaning staff to the food servers to the front desk to the doormen, was courteous and polite. Checking in and checking out was fast and efficient. Parking is $17/day, and sometimes you would have to insert your room card repeatedly before the garage gate opens. The two negatives are you have to pay for internet access and the gym. You would think that at such an expensive hotel that internet access would be included, but it's not. Even it's sister hotels, like Hawthorn Suites or Hampton Inn have free internet access. At least the front desk can print out your boarding pass for free. As for the gym, it's nice, but it's hard to get to. First, you have to go outside the building and down the stairs (if you're on the second floor and following the signs). The gym itself is nice with lots of cardio equipment, but who wants to go outside in the cold and the dark? Other than those two things, this hotel is quite nice and is typical of Hyatt.

    • Liked — Location, staff
    • Disliked — Lack of free internet access, location of gym

“Noisy!”

Date - Dec 14 2007

When we first got into the room we noticed how noisy it was. The A/C was way too loud and the plumbing was noisy when anyone in the stack of rooms was using it. We then noticed that the walls were paper thin. We could hear the phone conversations, and later at night, snoring, from the rooms on both sides.

But the worse thing was the maid. At 8:30AM Saturday morning, she paraded from room to room, knocking on the door and then followed with "Sorry". Since the walls were as thin as I mentioned, we heard her more then 10 times.

At checkout when I complaint, the manager said that it was normal procedure. I don't understand what is normal in waking up your guests at 8:30 on a Saturday.

And I thought Hyatt was supposed to be a high end hotel.
