I visited this hotel one night during my husband's weeklong business trip and while he said it was fine for him, I am glad I wasn't the one staying there all week! We had stayed here before over a weekend and we had a room facing the freeway (VERY LOUD) but this time we had a quieter location.

The bed was fine although the sheets just couldn't stay on the corners. What was disgusting to me was the bathroom. The tile floors were missing most of the grout, probably from standing water over time. The toilet had mold growing in it and the sink was filthy. The whole bathroom just seemed really dirty.

Also, as with most hotels, you could hear EVERY conversation through the door, including the very loud housekeeping person and the supervisor that followed her around and yelled at her all morning!!!

Sadly, when evening comes, there is NOTHING going on in this hotel. No convenience store, no snack vending machines, and absolutely no restaurant near by. Even the bar here was closed by 10 p.m. Be prepared to get in your car and drive should you want to grab a bite! I ate breakfast in the ACES restaurant in the morning. The food was mediocre at best and the service was lousy. You do get a full pot of coffee on your table, but the "buffet" was just not worth the money.

The front desk was vacated at 11p.m. and people were just wandering in and around the room corridors. It was obvious they weren't staying there which made me a bit nervous. I did NOT feel safe at this hotel.

Hubby said the jacuzzi was nice, but the pool is very basic.

Overall, I would say this is a 3-star hotel, but the room we had and the lack of facilities in the evening made me give it a 2-star rating. It is very close to the freeway and about 20-minutes from the airport, but security would be a BIG factor if I were bringing my kids or traveling alone.

“OK Hotel - Bad Front Desk Service”

Holiday Inn North East

Jun 25, 2007

We arrived on Thur. 6/14 and had reserved a room with a sitting room (suite)... it was not as pictured, but it was o.k. Room 642 - corner unit - one window faced the pool area, the other window faced the highway. We left on Sunday 6/17. This hotel is very close to the highway, next to a Ford Dealership/industrial area. There are no refrigerators in the room, which was a disappointment to us. Room service is available, however, the three nights we were there no one picked up the dirty dishes that were left outside of the rooms.... Three days of the same stuff in the hallways...gross. The pool was clean and there were many towels and (older) chairs available. The Aces restaurant breakfast buffet was a bit weird... continental only to the left - full buffet to the right or order off the menu. Front desk... nightmare. Some young girl who did not know what she was doing the entire time we were there. Total we (with our other family members who were staying there) all of us agreed that the front desk was not up to par. I ordered the room with the "best 4 breakfast" which was a $20 credit for breakfast...we stayed three nights... 3 tickets right? No, we were only given one. When the restaurant took it, they said to go and get the others from the front desk... she gave us a continental breakfast coupon, not the $20 credit coupon. When I questioned it, she then gave us the correct coupon. Dry cleaning service - my husband had a shirt for the wedding that needed to be cleaned and pressed. He asked for a "slip" from the front desk. They gave him the "Employee" Dry Cleaning slip... so we pointed this out and then we got the "Guest" dry cleaning slip. He returned the slip with the shirt to the manager and asked which Holiday Inn to put on the receipt.... the manager said o.k. My husband asked again... which Holiday Inn - there are a few HI in Sacramento. He finally got it and wrote the NE on it. The shirt came back quickly, cleaned and pressed in our room as promised. It just seemed like a lot of headaches at the front desk...nothing was easy. The Aces nightclub had live bands each Friday & Saturday... the bands were great and guest of the hotels did not have to pay the cover charge. Drinks are expensive. All in all - hotel was good...front desk needs improvement.

“Nice staff but the guest rooms are NOT 3-Star”

The front-desk staff could not have been nicer and the location was very convenient to I-80. The guest rooms needed maintenance (paint, trim replacement, bathtub fixture reinforcement etc.) and the advertised guest room "refurbishing" looks like it was done somewhat "on the cheap". The bedding and towles were clean and the beds were satisfactory. The grounds, lobby and front desk areas were much better maintained than the guest rooms. The static display P-51D Mustang (seen on the hotel's web site advertisement) had been removed prior to our visit. Too bad as I was looking forward to seeing it and taking some photos.
Because of the guest room condition I would rate this hotel at no better than 2 to 2 1/2 stars. Again, the front-desk staff members were very nice and the best part of our stay. They probably would have given us another room if we had requested it but my guess is that it would have been about the same.

“Nice Hotel - Good Value”

Holiday Inn North East

Stayed here for two nights on business for $99/night. The hotel is 30-45 minutes from downtown Sacramento. There are a lot of stores and restaurants in the area (you'll need a car). Try "Strings" restaurant about a mile down the road for some decent Italian food. Bed was comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean. Service was friendly and efficient. Workout room was small but decent cardio equipment. The is a full-blown gym in a shopping center across the street. It's $5/day with your room key and a discount card you get at the Hotel's front desk (ask). My computer does not have wireless cability and I had to use dial-up to connect to the internet. Decent selection of channels on the TV.

“Dated”

Holiday Inn North East

Stayed at the Holiday Inn on September 24, 2005. This hotel is nothing special. Bedding looks worn and so does the upholstery on the sofa in the room I had. Bathroom was clean, but also dated.... I think during the last remodel, they installed a plastic all-in-one prefab shower/tub unit over the existing tub. Why? because when I got in the shower, the floor of the tub flexed and there was clearly empty space below it. Somewhat of a hazard I would think, since the floor gives. A/C is a wall unit. Towels were great! Nice and fluffy and thick! Loved that they provided actual water glasses in the room. Probably would be better to set them up on the desk in the bedroom rather than on the bathroom counter next to the toilet. Yikes! There is a restaurant on site and room service as well. Ask for a room away from the freeway.
