Let me start by saying that the staff at this hotel is far superior to the hotel itself. This crew should br working at a Four Seasons if Sacramento had one.

I actually stayed here because we wanted to see the band playing in their bar and not drive home after drinking. The room needed a good carpet and furniture cleaning as it had several stains, and this was a suite. Bed was comfy and big.

The nice part is that guests get into the bar free, others pay $10 per person. They also give you one free drink, but the bartenders here pour some really nasty tasting drinks.

breakfast was good too.

This is an older hotel that saw it's heyday when McClellan Air Base was still active and catered to military personnel. Now it appears to cater primarily to civilian federal and state personnel, but while I was there, I did see a group of young kids staying there. The Aces restaurant is situated in the hotel and has a military motif with photos from previous wars. A conning tower is part of the building and apparently there was a P-51 attached to the top of the tower, but has long been taken down. Part of the Aces serves a complementary breakfast. They also serve lunch. The prices are typical of Sacrramento. Plan on spending about 10.00 for lunch, excluding the tip. The restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. For dinner, the lounge is open and the menu gets a little more expensive. Plan on spending about 25.00 for dinner. The staff are friendly and the rooms are quiet, but make sure that you reserve a room farther from I-80. This hotel is right next to the freeway. The room was clean and everything worked including the complementary high speed internet. The room appears to have been refurbished some time in the last year. Lastly plan on walking a lot around the hotel. When I was there, one of the elevators was out of order for about one and half days. The bottomline is I would stay here again and I'd recommend it.

  • Liked — The complementary breakfast for our business group
  • Disliked — Lack of written services such as check out, location of other services

I didn't book my hotel reservations. Stayed in Sacramento for 4 days to attend family reunion. The lobby area was open and attractive. Noticed the room was dated especially showing some wear in the bathroom. Unfortunately my room was under a generator or something because it made noise all night long in additon to the air conditioning having to work overtime due to sweltering heat. Didn't spend much time at the hotel nor did I patron their inhouse restaurant. You have a Starbucks and Chinese restaurant within walking distance so that's a plus.

  • Liked — Ground level room
  • Disliked — Ground level room with all the foot traffic nearby and generator noise above

I visited this hotel one night during my husband's weeklong business trip and while he said it was fine for him, I am glad I wasn't the one staying there all week! We had stayed here before over a weekend and we had a room facing the freeway (VERY LOUD) but this time we had a quieter location.

The bed was fine although the sheets just couldn't stay on the corners. What was disgusting to me was the bathroom. The tile floors were missing most of the grout, probably from standing water over time. The toilet had mold growing in it and the sink was filthy. The whole bathroom just seemed really dirty.

Also, as with most hotels, you could hear EVERY conversation through the door, including the very loud housekeeping person and the supervisor that followed her around and yelled at her all morning!!!

Sadly, when evening comes, there is NOTHING going on in this hotel. No convenience store, no snack vending machines, and absolutely no restaurant near by. Even the bar here was closed by 10 p.m. Be prepared to get in your car and drive should you want to grab a bite! I ate breakfast in the ACES restaurant in the morning. The food was mediocre at best and the service was lousy. You do get a full pot of coffee on your table, but the "buffet" was just not worth the money.

The front desk was vacated at 11p.m. and people were just wandering in and around the room corridors. It was obvious they weren't staying there which made me a bit nervous. I did NOT feel safe at this hotel.

Hubby said the jacuzzi was nice, but the pool is very basic.

Overall, I would say this is a 3-star hotel, but the room we had and the lack of facilities in the evening made me give it a 2-star rating. It is very close to the freeway and about 20-minutes from the airport, but security would be a BIG factor if I were bringing my kids or traveling alone.

We arrived on Thur. 6/14 and had reserved a room with a sitting room (suite)... it was not as pictured, but it was o.k. Room 642 - corner unit - one window faced the pool area, the other window faced the highway. We left on Sunday 6/17. This hotel is very close to the highway, next to a Ford Dealership/industrial area. There are no refrigerators in the room, which was a disappointment to us. Room service is available, however, the three nights we were there no one picked up the dirty dishes that were left outside of the rooms.... Three days of the same stuff in the hallways...gross. The pool was clean and there were many towels and (older) chairs available. The Aces restaurant breakfast buffet was a bit weird... continental only to the left - full buffet to the right or order off the menu. Front desk... nightmare. Some young girl who did not know what she was doing the entire time we were there. Total we (with our other family members who were staying there) all of us agreed that the front desk was not up to par. I ordered the room with the "best 4 breakfast" which was a $20 credit for breakfast...we stayed three nights... 3 tickets right? No, we were only given one. When the restaurant took it, they said to go and get the others from the front desk... she gave us a continental breakfast coupon, not the $20 credit coupon. When I questioned it, she then gave us the correct coupon. Dry cleaning service - my husband had a shirt for the wedding that needed to be cleaned and pressed. He asked for a "slip" from the front desk. They gave him the "Employee" Dry Cleaning slip... so we pointed this out and then we got the "Guest" dry cleaning slip. He returned the slip with the shirt to the manager and asked which Holiday Inn to put on the receipt.... the manager said o.k. My husband asked again... which Holiday Inn - there are a few HI in Sacramento. He finally got it and wrote the NE on it. The shirt came back quickly, cleaned and pressed in our room as promised. It just seemed like a lot of headaches at the front desk...nothing was easy. The Aces nightclub had live bands each Friday & Saturday... the bands were great and guest of the hotels did not have to pay the cover charge. Drinks are expensive. All in all - hotel was good...front desk needs improvement.
