We stayed at the Best Western Expo for a couple of nights while attending a high school drama festival at Sacramento State - it is about a five minute drive to Sac State. The property is also very convenient to the CalExpo fairgrounds.

While the property is a little older, it's very clean and well-kept. We stayed in the building with suites, which were quite nice - living area with a couch, chair and TV, a little kitchen with a small refrigerator. The bedroom was reasonably sized and had its own TV. Large bathtub with an excellent shower head!

There are plenty of places to eat within an easy walking distance - Peet's Coffee right across the side street, Chevy's, several Mongolian barbecues, La Bou and Lemon Grass (Thai) a couple of blocks away. It's on Howe Avenue, which is a busy shopping street, but we didn't really hear much traffic noise in the room. There was noise from upstairs, but any time you have high school drama kids staying in the same hotel, there is that possibility...

Overall - excellent value, clean rooms, good location.

Wow, I stayed here on business and received exceptional customer service! My room was quite large and very quiet. I needed to check out a bit later than their normal checkout and they were very accommodating. They offer fresh cookies in the afternoon and a lovely continental breakfast that includes make your own mini-waffles. They even have a free shuttle that will pick you up from the train or airport and drive you back to catch your train or plane home. To top it off, I accidentally left a suit jacket on the chair and I had it back within 2 days as they popped it in the mail right away with no charge. The staff was very friendly. I'll definitely return if I have another Sacramento meeting.

  • Liked — The amazingly friendly service and the great shopping and restaurants nearby. (Peets coffee next door!)
  • Disliked — The fact that the WiFi didn't work well and the lobby computer was out of order.

Enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. We work at night and noone bothered us during the day so we could sleep. The first day we stayed there we asked for early check in and were assured that it wouldn't be a problem. However, we had to wait over an hour and a half before they finally gave us a room, during which we slept on their couch in the lobby. They had a coffee machine that provided fresh coffee any time so that was nice. Wireless internet was unnaccessable in our room so we used our air card instead. Overall, comfortable stay. Would stay here again.

  • Liked — Near various restaurants and shopping
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything

This is the only safe looking hotel we could find in the area. The room was large, quiet and comfortable. Our car was in a secure lot.

  • Liked — it was located near our event and was safe
  • Disliked — the door had problems and our electronic key didn't work, but maintenance fixed it in under 10-min
  • Tips/Secrets: — we cheked out nearby hotels. This one seemed best.

Stayed at this hotel 5 separate weeks from June thru October 2006 while in Sacramento on business trip. Had a suite on the 2nd floor in the back building of the hotel. The kitchenette....fridge, microwave....were very handy, making most of my breakfast and lunch meals in the room, then going out some place nice for dinner (check out Scott's seafood....find it). The staff is very good and really try to make you comfortable and happy, providing little things like treat baskets for repeat customers. There's a t.v. in each of the rooms of the suite. This is not what you would call a luxury hotel; but it was comfortable and reasonable for the long term. It's a short trip to Old Town Sacramento (20 mins.) and very close to a large, nice mall and many restaurants. If you just want simple, basic, convenient in Sacramento, this one's for you.
