I had stayed for one night, but wish I had stayed longer. Rooms are small, but perfect. Very clean and comfortable. Very nice staff at the front desk answered any questions I had about the history of the boat, and of the surrounding area. They had told me that most of the cabins are actually 2 rooms that were renovated. She said while you walk on the deck and are about to enter your room, you will notice another cabin door just a few feet down, that is not functional. They had knocked out the wall and made one cabin out of 2 original cabins. That is amazing that even though the rooms now are small, just imagine how small they used to be. The lounge was great. I got a chance to look at the Captains Quarters. It is an amazing room. It looks like it only sleeps 2 though, considering how big it is. The only thing I regret is that I didn't have the chance to eat at their restaurant. I only had one opportunity for dinner so I went to Biba's Restaurant. I have been watching her for years on TV and always wanted to go. The meal and service was exceptional!! I loved Old Sacramento. I didn't know too much about the area before I arrived, so I was quite suprised to see this Old West atmosphere. I also went to the train museum, which has to be the best train museum in the world. I am not a big train buff or anything, but this place blew me away. How they have refurbished these old train cars and most of the people that work inside are volunteers. I will definitely return to Sacramento some day, hopefully soon.

The Delta King is one of the actual paddleboats that made daily trips from San Francisco to Sacramento in the early 1900's. It was permanently docked on the Sacramento River a decade ago and heavily renovated into a hotel, bar, a theater and a mystery dinner venue.
We put up our out of town family there for a big family birthday. We had 5
rooms. The birthday couple occupied the ?Captain?s Quarters?. This unique room at the top and front of the boat is expensive but was a highlight of the weekend. See it on their web site.
The staff is friendly, the food very good (service sometimes slow), being on the river is pleasant and the boat's renovation maintains it's original early 1900?s charm. Yes, the rooms are small and you have to climb a couple of decks to get around but that's all part of the experience.
The Mystery Theater was lots of fun.
The boat is on the edge of Sacramento Old Town, which is a mix of tacky shops, variety of bars and a whole range of restaurants from simple to expensive.

Our family has stayed at the Delta King many times over the past 10 years, most recently this last weekend. We've never stayed for more than one night because we usually stay there for convenience sake when we need to make airport or train connections or when we are picking up friends or relatives at same connections. (We live in Rescue which is about 40 miles east of Sacramento) To tell you the truth one day in Old Sacramento is plenty. The location of this hotel, right on the river, in Old Sac, on the old train tracks where they have a running engine and several cars, and close to the train museum and several good restaurants and shops is it's great advantage. The rooms are smallish, especially the bathrooms, but you have to remember this is a paddle boat of old that's been restored. The overall atmosphere of the place is great. The restaurant and bar are top calibre and they serve a nice continental breakfast and Sunday brunch. They also have outside seating when the weather is nice. Just hanging out and watching the river and railroad traffic and the two bridges operate is a great way to pass some of the time. If you want to experience Old Sacramento at it's fullest this is definitely THE place to stay.
