We stayed here for one night and though as other reviews have said the rooms are small, they are not unbearably so unless you were planning to stay for a week and had a lot of luggage. the bathroom was narrow but again for a one or two night stay it is fine. more importantly the room was clean and tidy, they even turned down our sheets at night which was a nice touch. the hotel staff were helpful and friendly too. we had a mid corridor river view room and didn't notice any noise at all.
We only explored Old Sacramento and for that one evening was enough although there was a good choice of restaurants. There is a cellar wine tasting rooms in one of the shops and I would recommend that if that's your thing.

I called directly to the hotel to book the room and I was not too impressed since I was on hold forever and the person who answered asked if they could call me back. But you have to enjoy and respect the quaint, old fashioned character of the boat, which lends itself to a somewhat antiquated reservation system. Once I arrived, the valet and the check in were great. Our room was perfect for us. It was myself, my cousin and my 2 year old daughter. It was a very small room, and I mean very small! But it was divided so that there was a small section with a twin bed and then a slightly larger section with a queen bed, and tv etc. The bathroom was small and the tile and sink and toilet were antiques I think, but it really went with the feel of the room and the whole experience. It is not luxurious and grand, but it was clean, quaint, and fun! I would recommend this for a couple looking for a fun overnight getaway, or a family who also wants to take in the sights of Old Sac. If you enjoy unique experiences, you will probably enjoy this. If you are seeking space and luxury and typical hotel accomodations, go somewhere else. I will definately stay there again!

“Unique accomodations, but noisy”

Our room was lovely -- beautifully refurbished cabin on the city side. The bathroom had orginal fixtures and tilework. It was small, but functional. The location is excellent with walking access to old town Sacramento. Now for the noise. It started around 9 p.m. with the lounge band which could be heard throughout the boat. We turned up the TV to drown them out and managed to fall asleep. But at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning we were awakened by drilling and sawing in the cabin next door. Apparently they were remodeling the cabin. If this wasn't bad enough, a housekeeper pounded on our door at 9 am wanting to clean - and we were only there for one night! I mentioned the noise problems to the desk clerk who seemed indifferent. It was fun to be on a boat for the night, but I don't think we would stay again.

“The "great" escape!”

Wow! This was just what my girlfriend and I needed... a break from the February "blues". Running my own business, raising two kids and feeling the Sacramento Blues, it was time to re-charge the old batteries. My girlfriend and I decided to take a weekend in our own town and totally "escape" our lives. The Delta King offered us more then we would have dreamed.
The service was terrific, the rooms had a cozy feel like we were in another world, and the amenities, room decorations and attention to details made our get-a-way a genuine success. We were able to relax, eat terrific food, enjoy ourselves and feel pampered. I would highly recommend the Delta King to anyone that was looking for a "great escape"!

The rooms are delightful, the river view is fantastic, food is fabulous, staff is attentive. This is a unique historic property and you won't find another one like it. You stay on the beautifully remodeled river boat. There is a theatre, restaurant and lounge also on board. This is a must-stay!
