This a good place to stay if you want to be close to downtown and the interstate (I 5) but not stuck in downtown traffic and prices. We stayed four nights and found the room to be clean and comfortable. The hotel is family run and they try hard to satisfy the guests and address any problems you might have with the room or service. There is a small pool for the kids and a breakfast typical of chain hotels these days.
On the less attractive side; the owners seem to want to save money in ways that don't please customers. First of all, a 15 watt bulb of the old type is for a fridge not a hotel room. We had to drive to a shopping center to buy light bulbs for the lamps otherwise I would have gone blind. Secondly, it costs only a few more cents to give your guests half-and-half instead of a giant pitcher of milk of dubious origins. Finally, the location doesn't have much to offer in the way of eating. A few overpriced places are somewhat nearby but other than a tired old McDonald's across the way you are left to getting sandwiches from the gas station across the street. You'll have to get in the car for any alternatives. I recommend going two exits north on I5 to El Camino and turn right. A mile or so down the road are a few strip malls with most of what you might need.
Overall a good hotel that needs to reconsider some of its' money saving ideas and focus more on happy customers.
