I had driven down from Redding, CA for a one night stay before flying out of Sacramento at 6 a.m. Neighborhood was okay. Received a room with an exterior corridor around the pool - had a run down Melrose Place feel. Not the best room type for a single woman traveling alone. Loud exterior noise on the street and outside of door. Bed was comfortable, although the room was a bit dated. Remote control on t.v. did not work well. Ants in the bathroom. Wireless was not working and my internet to not fit into the lamp outlet provided. Front desk staff was friendly at both check-in and the following morning when calling me a cab. The Mansion Cafe actually had excellent food and outstanding service at a reasonable price. I was very pleased. Overall an acceptable stay for not a lot of money.

Thank you for your most recent feedback just a month ago. We are making strides the room(s) departments of the hotel as well as the overall condition of the property. We have been a landmark for years in Sacramento and
we want to stay that way. I am glad you enjoyed the restaurant and our wonderful food and our STAFF! Hope to see you soon.

First of all, they lost my reservation - the desk clerk was not helpful, but did finally give me a room, which had stained carpet, chair and bedspread. The TV remote wouldn't work, and the door wouldn't lock. There were noisy guests in the middle of the night, but I couldn't get a response from the desk to take care of the problem. The bathroom was tiny, and grout was missing in the floor tile. I will never stay here again, and I stay in Sacramento regularly on my way to and from California.

heat only comes on when hotel/motel has it timed for...freezing evening, heat did not come on until 930pm.

Air conditioning was on during day and flipping switch to heat or low air flow does not work, only turning switch to off works.

fan is extremely loud...bring your earplugs if you insist on staying.

furnishings are shoddy, small.

soap, shampoo, was not in bathroom on arrival.

carpet ugly, worn, and uneven.

  • Liked — breakfast ok
  • Disliked — heat & a/c system

I needed a hotel that was reasonable and close to a 2-day seminar I was attending at the Sheraton Grand. The Clarion was within 6 blocks - a very doable walk! The clerk at check-in was very nice and they gave me a welcome package with some samples inside (shampoo, gum, etc.) The room was adequate with a large king bed and plenty of pillows. The tv didn't impress me much - I had a difficult time getting the remote to work. The heater was noisy and the stall shower was small. I had a wonderful meal at their restaurant, and the overall look of their facility is very nice. It certainly was adequate for what I needed.

  • Liked — Reasonable room rates.
  • Disliked — Small shower.

Absolutely not worth the price. The lobby is pleasant and gives you hope, but once inside the rooms the "ambience" changes drastically. Room is small and cramped. Very musty odor. Carpet was not vaccuumed well and fabric bench seat badly stained. Needs paint and updating. Had to slam door to get it to shut. Full-size beds only for two-bed rooms and stall showers only -- had to close bathroom door to even get to the shower door and floor had chips from cracked tile grout. Even though it was a no smoking room, table outside the room had an ashtray, as did all adjacent outdoor tables so I absolutely did not feel comfortable opening sliding glass door. One upside -- free parking. Would not stay again.

I am sorry to hear about your stay a year ago at the Historic Clarion Mansion Inn. The Hotel was built in the roaring 50's and has old World Charm. As a company we strive to make the "guest" experience a valuable one and a memorable. The rooms are our main focus and we are working hard to keep things clean and in good working condition.
Please let me know personally when you visit the State Capitol in the near future and I will make sure that your experience with us will be long lasting.

Happy New Year,
