I made my reservation through Orbitz knowing nothing about Sacramento. Turns out the location was great. We were walking distance to a bunch of nice restaurants and the neighborhood was nice. The staff offered me a king bed instead of the two queens I had booked which I appreciated. The room was clean and modern. Spacious. We stayed in 130. It was next to the pool which was also very clean (I didn't bother to go in it, though). The bed linens were nice and very comfortable. I would recommend it. We only paid $79 a night.

Location is decent but the rooms smell like mildew or a wet animal. Management offered to put me in another room but it smelled the same. The desk clerk said it was because of the outdoor carpet and all the rooms smell the same. They would not let me check out after one night because Expedia had already paid for two nights. The battle goes on...beware!!! If you have allergies or respiratory issues you should probably steer clear of this place.

Based upon the other reviews I almost didnt book this place. Howvere I was VERY happy I did. The drive in made me a bit wary as it is very urban and near the light rail so there were a few street people about but where the hotel is located is decent. The front desk gentleman was very cordial and when I got to the room I was VERY impressed. They have obviously done a recent remodel. The furishings and the entire room were all brand new and nice. The bed was great and there was a sofa in my room.
The TV remote did not work and the gentleman at the front desk quickly ran up a new one.
The only complaint I have is with the 'airplane' style sink in the HUGE vanity. There is a nice italian restaurant in the parking lot I did not try as it was fairly expensive but I walked about four blocks on the beautiful summer night down to Brew It Up, a local brew pub and had a great meal and excellent brews.
I would definately stay here again and again. Just tops!

Great location, price ($79) and most of all clean and fairly quiet. Nicely functional and decorated room with hairdryer, iron, nice wall art and furniture & comfy bed. Also, a very nice continental breakfast. It was fun to walk to historic buildings in downtown. We'd stay here again in a second. Stayed 8/18/07.

PS: I use reviews like this one before booking to get an idea of the accomodation.

My stay at this hotel was horrible, from before I got there until the night I left. I was in Sacramento to take the California Bar Exam, which is stressful enough. However, the staff at this hotel is clearly clueless as to what guest service means, except, of course for the breakfast staff and housekeeping.

Prior to arrival I spoke with numerous hotel employees to make sure everything was set. I booked at the end of January and requested a refridgerator, which is first come first served. I was repeatedly told to request an early check-in the day before arrival, which I did. Suffice it to say, the reservationist I spoke to when making the request spoke to me as if I was hearing the English language for the first time (by the way, English is my first and only language!).

When I did arrive (almost 1 hour after the early check-in I requested), I was told no rooms and no refridgerators were available. I was told about 'first reserved' blah blah blah, then I reminded him I booked back in January, while most other bar takes did not even book until mid-February at the earliest. Then I went to pay with a check, at which time he told me the hotel does not take checks. I thought this was strange as when I called a month earlier and wanted to prepay, they couldn't take my credit card over the phone, but I could mail them in a check...perplexing!

So, I give the clerk my card and he said he would put 1 night only on it, then I could get cash and pay the rest. I go outside and immediately as I walk through the door he announces (loudly): Your credit card was declined.
I looked up and 7 people were standing in line to check-in staring at me ... it was mortifying. I even have 2 friends who witnessed it and were shocked.

But the best is yet to come!! On my last night there, after spending $450, the night auditor went psychotic on me!!! I had a couple of friends over celebrating the bar and apparently there was a noise complaint. Instead of calling the room and asking us to keep it down, he shows up at the door and begins berating me up oneside and down the other with profanity. I asked him his name and he flipped me off as I was walking away. When I went to the front desk to demand his name, he called me 'trash', picked up his book (after calling the police!!!) and started reading.

Just now when I checked my credit card, I had been charged an extra $75 (for what I don't know) and when I called to speak with someone they said, "yeah, the night auditor doesn't have the best demeanor." So, clealry the hotel knows the night auditor is crazy and yet chooses to subject their guests to his outrageous behavior anyway.

Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else!!! For your sanity's sake!!!
