I can't fathom what the bad reviewers are talking about. The room was much bigger than expected and had a refrigerator and microwave. The bed was comfortable and offered lots of pillows...both squishy and firm. The tv was decent with a variety of channels. The gate to the river is awesome. I recommend staying on the back (river) side as it was very quiet - just an occasionaly motor boat. The staff was friendly, though the front door clerk was a bit clueless about the fact that the women I was checking in with might actually WANT to sleep in the same bed as me. ::grin:: I saw no indication of any bugs as others have said and the room was sparkling clean.

On the downside, it is a high homeless area on a street of pretty much nothing but motels. This is one of the better ones. Lock your doors - but then, who wouldn't? Also, there was a stain on the inside of the bed cover but then, I don't leave those on the bed anyway, considering how seldom they are cleaned. The bed clothes were otherwise clean and comfortable. There was also a weird occasional sound we couldn't figure out - either the fridge or building settling. But it wasn't bad.

I'll be staying here again and highly recommend it.

I will not go back to this motel because their service was very unprofessional, tv did not work, shuttle only started at 9am, etc.

The good: The location is terrific, right off the highway by the airport (but far enough to be quiet).
The Sacramento American River Trail is right out the back door, a locked entry way allows access to Discovery Park and miles of trail, delightful!
The rooms here are larger than expected.
There is a decent little Mexican chain-restaurant on the hotel property.
There is internet access available in the reception area.

The bad: The location is bit dangerous, a high-crime area. Do NOT open your door if anyone knocks, this happened to us but no one answered when asked to identify themselves. They have security on the property, but they are not active, and a check of the Sacramento police records shows a lot of theft and problems on this street (Jibboom).

Overall - a great value for the money, a little self-awareness about locking doors, etc. will keep you safe, and the location can't be beat! Ah, a nice walk in the park after a Mexican dinner - not bad.

  • Liked — Being able to walk on the bike trail in the park, right out the back door!
  • Disliked — The shady characters on the property, didn't feel as secure as I'd like.

We stayed for one night enroute to our final destination and have re-booked another hotel for the way back. Our room was very dark and disappointing. There were dead flies on the window sill. The carpet was not clean. The reception staff was terrible - very unfriendly. The overall impression is that the property is dated and needs renovation. I would not stay here again. The wireless reception was VERY slow and not high speed by any stretch of the imagination.

I have stayed in this motel twice over a 5 year period, and both times found it clean, accessible, and very comfortable. I plan on staying there again when I am in the neighborhood and would gladly recommend it to anyone.
