John and I stayed in the Emily Dickinson Room on September 22, 2005 for our Three Year Anniversary. The room was very clean, and the staff was warm and accommodating. The heart-shaped spa tub was not only romantic but very relaxing as well. Breakfast was so delicious that the two of us hardly spoke until we had finished eating it. The television was a plus. I really liked how it was hidden so that it didn't take away from the ambiance of the room. The whole experience has got me hooked on B&B's now!

My husband and I feel rejuvenated, relaxed, and romanced thanks to the warm embrace of the Amber House and its staff. We especially appreciated the heartfelt caring by Judith, the owner, who greeted us upon arrival and wished us farewell when we left; Dianne, who like a caring sister, kindly informed us of local sights, events and appealing restaurants, all within a fun, treelined saunter of the House; and Garianne, the chef whose wafflels with fruit, nuts, and whipped cream, plus her baked pear in carmelized sauce make my mouth water even now!

We also especially loved the old fashioned mood of the elegant front porch: We loved sitting on the swing on the front porch, both day and night, looking out at the tree lined street with its proud, historic homes, and we savored our breakfasts all the more dining el fresco on the porch.

And the jaccuzi: Although I've been in some gorgeous bathrooms, the bathroom here in the Emily Dickenson Room was the most beautiful I've ever experienced. My husband and I bubblebathed in its heartshaped, underwater lit whirlpool, while the fireplace in the bathroom warmed us too, body and soul, and as we stargazed through the six skylights overhead. We felt soothed, satisfied and, even after just two days, ready to face the World.

I can't say enough about the people at Amber House!!! My partner and I stayed for the 1st time on Valentine's Day weekend in the Beethoven Room and Judith, the new owner, greeted us at the front door and welcomed us the minute we arrived. She chatted with us and really seemed to have her heart in the place and people. Paul was a saint and a pleasure as he made the many trips across the street to provide us with things we needed (Ethernet cable, comb, plates, silverware ... 1 trip each!) and to settle us in (check-in, receipt, corrections ... 1 trip each!).

The tub was an actual Jacuzzi-brand tub and, if you're into bubble baths, just a dab will do you, literally! It was wonderful!

To the person who complained about the food in the reviews, there were items that both my partner and I couldn't eat due to allergies, but the staff was incredibly accommodating in offering extra portions or alternatives instead. Just let them know!

I'm guessing the change in mgmt made a big difference, looking at the prior reviews. Everyone seemed happy to work there. Judith said she had just bought the place 3 mos ago and she had such a good spirit about her and ready eagerness to make our stay comfortable and happy. I would recommend Amber House to everyone...and have! I'm looking forward to staying at the Emily Dickenson room next!

My wife and I first visted Amber House for New Years 2002, and since then we are always looking for an excuse to come back. We have stayed in the Emily Dickinson, Lord Byron and Mozart rooms and each room has a special uniqueness that makes the stay a dreamy delight. The large spa tub for two was sheer pleasure only to be topped off with warm soft fresh cookies and milk for the night. The morning breakfast was far superior to going to Carrows or IHOP. It was just the right mix to add much needed energy and vitality for the day. We have recommended this B&B to all of our friends and family and truly hope our children will be able to enjoy this wonderful find throughout their lives as well.
