Amber House Bed and Breakfast Inn

This is my favorite place to stay. When I went to write this review, it only asks for one date. I have stayed at the Amber House almost monthly for 3 years while traveling on business and every time has been wonderful.

This Inn is actually two charming, old houses across the street from each other in a quiet residential neighborhood, close to downtown Sacramento and UC Davis Medical Center. Both are older homes with a lot of charm and character but with recent remodeling of the rooms and bedding, have the luxury of high end hotels. The main house is the "Poet's Refuge" and the other is the "Musician's Manor" with the rooms named after famous poets and musicians.

The staff is friendly and happy to help with anything they can do to make sure your visit is an experience you'll remember fondly. You can start your day with coffee/tea/juice served at your room with USA Today or the Sacramento Bee and you can end your day with fresh baked cookies. They also have several choices of wine available.

I stay during my business travel, often for the entire week. There is high speed wireless connection in each room and tables to spread out on. Each time I've stayed there it has been like visiting friends and family. The staff and owners make having to be away from home a little bit easier.

The breakfasts are wonderful! You can have a light breakfast or the full course with delicious treats. They will serve it in your room, in the main dining room, on the front porch of the main house, or in the garden of the other house. There are restaurants within walking distance or a short drive.

I have stayed in almost all of the rooms since I began my trips to Sacramento, and have a favorite in each house. There are jacuzzi tubs in some, fireplaces in others, private patios in a couple, and comfortable beds in all of them. Once you go once, you'll want to go back enough to find your own favorite! Enjoy!

My husband took me to the Amber House for our fourth anniversary. We stayed in the Mozart Room, which is just gorgous! They made sure our anniversary was super romantic! When we came into the room there was rose petals on the bed, strawberries dipped in chocolate and a great bottle of champagne awaiting us! After the frenzied holiday season, it was so relaxing to spend a night at the Amber House! We LOVED the jacuzzi tub and sipped champagne while remembering the past four years together. The fireplace in the room made it very comfy and romantic. I wish we could create a room like that in our house!

Aside from the decorations and amenities in this inn, we really appreciated the service. It seemed like every need of ours was met, from bringing me tea in the evening to making sure my husband had his paper to read in the morning. The staff was so great and really made us feel special. We look forward to spending more romantic evenings there, and want to try out some of the other rooms which look great as well.

Just had to let everybody who visits this site know what a wonderful experience it was for us to spend time at the Amber House! Our stay was referred to us by friends who know the owners of this great B & B. This was our first stay ever at a B & B, so we weren't sure what to expect. We certainly were "wowed" by the beautifully decorated rooms, the service, the delicious breakfast and the friendliness of the Inn Keepers. Judith made us feel so welcomed and pampered. Thanks for making our trip so memorable. Hope that we see you again in the near future!!

“Amber House is a true gem”

Amber House Bed and Breakfast Inn

We have just got back from our travels throughout California. Our first stop was at the Amber House bed and breakfast Inn.
when we arrived, we were pretty frazzled after a long flight from the UK and the added worry of two lost/delayed suitcases. but as soon as we walked through the doors of the Inn, we were pampered and soothed and all our worries soon vanished. The property is beautiful, We stayed in the Longfellow room and adored the soft and comfortable bed - really good. The bathroom was huge and well stocked - which was great for us as our luggage had still not appeared. We managed to have a lovely soak in the bath, unwind and munch on some delicious home made cookies. Then under some excellent advice we took a a short stroll to a good local restaurant for dinner, with the heartening sight upon our return of our missing suitcases- what a relief.
We stayed in several B&B's as we toured California and without a shadow of a doubt the Amber house is our number one for both accomodation and for food, the breakfast was absolutely outstanding, we experienced no other on our trip that could match it
Our only regret, on leaving after just one night was that we had not stayed nearly as long as we would have liked. We both agreed that we will definitely keep the Amber House at the top of our list of places we shall be returning to in the very near future.

I have stayed in nearly every room of this B&B on different occasions and each time is just as good as the rest. It had been over a year since my last visit and yet everyone remembered me. The rooms are so cozy and the beds are extremely comfortable. Everything is perfect, warm robes, heavy towels, nice smelling hand soaps, Direct TV, and parking spaces! The food is worth the stay alone, but everything about this place will make for a memorable stay. I actually miss visiting this inn when I get home because it's so much fun while I'm there.
