During our stay at this hotel an electrical surge in the building destroyed my laptop!! There was nothing wrong with my laptop until after I plugged it into the socket in the room. Within 2 seconds my motherboard got fried.

20 minutes after that the alarm system in the hotel went off. The fire station arrived, but did not find any fire. After they left, the alarm came back on again. According to the receptionist it was not a fire but electrical issue in the kitchen.

As another person commented, the personnel (from the GM at the top to the receptionist) at this hotel are unprofessional and always cover up 'strange' issues that occur at this hotel. When I left a message for the GM about my laptop, nobody bothered calling me back. So I emailed his (got his business card), and still he did not respond to my email. I had to call the hotel 3 times and call the Staybridge head office in order to talk to the General Manager. Everytime I got the run around at the hotel. The receptionist even tried to cover the electrical surge by claiming 'the alarm was just some smoke in the kitchen area'. Even what she is claiming is seriously dangerous!!

And when I spoke to him he tried to cover everything up and said that he was not liable for what had happened as I could not prove it. I have no doubt that this hotel has serious safety issues. My guess would be that when they built it they cut around the edges and the wiring in the building is seriously messed up and dangerous. I strongly recommend that everyone not take the risk (nothing might happen to someone else, but the chances are seriously there).

I usually book through the Intercontinetal chain of hotels, that includes Staybridge, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Crown Plaza. That's the only reason I stayed at this hotel. After this incident I will forget about my points card and stay at other hotel chains.

This is a new hotel, so I couldn't find much about it online prior to my stay. It turns out it's a wonderful place. The rooms are super comfortable -- soft sheets, fluffy pillows (two kinds to choose from), very spacious, good lighting. Everything I could ask for. The exercise room was clean and bright. The free breakfast had a wide range of choices (not just some juice/coffee and pastries!) including waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, potatoes, eggs, etc. It's very near the highway, easy to find, and in the center of a number of restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend it to friends, and will stay there again whenever I need to be in Sacramento.

The hotel was new and nice. The stay was fine.
The problem arose when I came home to find an extra $1,675 billed to my AMEX. The staff went into shut down mode from the first time I called. They couldn't tell me what it was for. I call a couple times a week and they pawn me off to a different individual. They keep saying they are going to call AMEX and get it taken off. I have written two complaint letters to Staybridge Corporate billing with no follow up. No resolution as of print time (Feb 13th). Not even sure what to do next. I have contacted AMEX and advised the charges at this time appear fraudulent and I am disputing them. My suggestion, stay away from staybridge, get into a Marriott or Hilton property. Why take the chance?
