We were really happy with this place. I was traveling with my husband and 2 little kids to a friend's wedding at a vineyard near Sacramento, and we thought it might be fun to stay in town for a few days. We were really glad we did! The hotel is new and really lovely and the service was very nice too.
The room had a separate bedroom and living room, each with a big flat screen TV, and the living room includes a really nice FULL kitchen -- Including dishes and cookware! Anyone traveling with small kids can appreciate the beauty of having your own kitchen when you're on the road. Everything pretty much looked just like the pictures online. The room was very clean and new.
The hotel has a very nice pool, jacuzzi and gym, which were right down the hall from us. It also had a very decent breakfast which was included in the price. We were amazed at what a great value it all was at $120 a night.
We had a nice view of the park in front of the capitol from our window, and there are lots of great restaurants in nearby "midtown", several which will deliver to the hotel.
oh, and I think it was Gay Pride weekend while we were there, so that spiced things up a bit!
Anyway, we discovered there are all kinds of fun things to do in Sacramento with kids --- like touring Old Sacramento and it's train museum, and visiting Fairy Tale park in Land Park.
My kids now think of sleepy little Sacramento as this amazing destination! And for that I give a lot of credit to this hotel.

I stayed at the Capitol Park Residence Inn for a weekend in late April, and found that from the moment I entered, the atmosphere was friendly. The staff was extremely helpful with all my needs, including the use of FedEx, and later checkout. I had a studio room, and found it quite sufficient for my needs. I found the bed to be very comfortable, no discernable noises through the walls, and a very clean modern hotel overall. I was minutes away from the river and Old town and from my venue. I will definitely stay here again should I be in the area.

July 2008. I was in Sacramento for some business and stayed at one of the newer properties downtown. I have stayed here before and previously had a good experience here. Check in was smooth and welcoming. The garage is next door and there is a bit of a walk if you're hauling lots of lugggage.

My room was one bedroom suite. The A/C vent is not over your face when on your bed in the one bed room suite. The room was clean. Small living area and kitchen. The facilities are only about a year old. I was on the third floor in an inner suite but it was amazingly quiet during my entire stay at this property.

There was a small desk, small table and two chairs. One chair and small sofa. There was a flat screen t.v. in the living area.

The bedroom was small and featured a comfortable bed. The bathroom was small but water pressure was good and temprature was good as well. The room was cleaned and well cleaned each day. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning kept me cool but it was a noisy unit and made significant noise when it "clicked on" and "clicked off."

The gym was small and well used in the evening. The A/C vents do blow in your face on some of the machines. There is also a small pool outside and had moderate use. The free breakfast was average for Residence Inn properties but there was plenty of space to eat. There is also a large lobby for Residence Inn property and free internet access as well on the first floor.

I recommend the following eating establishments in Sacramento. Indo Cafe in Old Sacramento for Indonesian cuisine. Siam for Thai food on Franklin Blvd. The Tea house for Dim Sum on T street. J.R. Texas BBQ on Otto Circle. New Canton for Chinese on Broadway.

We played golf on the weekend at the Cache Creek Casino & Hotel in the Capay Valley, about 60 minutes west of Sacramento. the Capay Valley is the largest grower of organic food in the United States. The Cache Creek golf course is called Yoocha De He. I was a bit disappointed in the resort course.
Nothing really special. The buffet at Cache Creek casino was good!

I recommend the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club, former site of the Samsung Women's LPGA tournament in Vallejo for a challenging and scenic course. For a tight challening course, I recommend Wildhorse in Davis. For value, the Rio Vista Golf club in Rio Vista.

At the Residence Inn, the parking is extra and a bit of walk. The A/C is suspect. But otherwise, I can recomend this property.

If you are looking for a suite type of accomodations that offers a kitchen. The suites are small but offer a working kitchen, are relatively new and clean. The beds are comfortable. The room is quiet.

“Housecleaning Garbage left in our room...”

We stayed at the Residence Inn for three nights at the end of July to attend a wedding. Having experienced excellent service for the previous three nights at the Bay Landing Hotel in Burlingame, San Francisco, we expected nothing less from the Mariott Residence Inn.

During check in, I asked the clerk to confirm that they had received my booking (done a few months in advance) request for a portable crib. It didn't seem like the request was on the booking, as she had to ask a porter to send up the crib. When the porter arrived with the portable crib, he stated he didn't know how to set it up. At the Bay Landing Hotel, the portable crib was already set up in our room prior to our check in. The crib mattress even had a fresh bed sheet wrapped around it.

As with previous guests, the air conditioning vent blew directly at the bed, but we had to keep it on to drown out the loud music that was blaring from the bar across the street.

The next day when we returned from our day trip, we discovered a large black garbage bag which contained garbage and dirty towels that was left in our room! I think housekeeping wasn't paying attention.....
No one picked up the phone when I called both the front desk and housekeeping, so I had to go down to the front desk and inform them of the garbage bag dilemma. The clerk called housekeeping to address the problem. We left the garbage bag outside our room and it was eventually picked up.

We took the advice of a parking attendant and decided to park on the street and feed the meter (Free parking on Sundays).

Other than the above problems, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the convenience of having the kitchenette and supplies especially when travelling with small children.

Reservation was handled efficiently and reception efficient and courteous. Staff enthuiastic but seem to be new to the hotel industry.
It is difficult to imagine that the room was designed by someone with experience staying in a hotel - there is no towel rail in wash basin area and the air conditioner vent blows directly onto the bed and is not adjustable. Cooking smells from a neighbouring room permeated everything.
One excellent feature is the ample drawer space.
The location is superb.
