I have a family of 6 and knew we would only be at this hotel for a short night....arriving 11 pm, leaving 4 am.

I booked their largest room, two beds and a pullout for $170 AAA rate. There was NO WAY for us to fit in that room, it was tiny. We ended up paying for a king room also....another $170. The sofa beds were horrible....sagging, thin mattress. Even my youngest son who can sleep anywhere, couldn't sleep on that bed....if you want to call it a bed.

So for almost $400, we got tiny rooms with two beds that we couldn't use. Horrible value.

Couldn't tell you about service or what was available at the hotel as we were only there 5 hours. The location seemed odd to me though....from what I could see, it was in an industrial area. Was hard to find even with our GPS.

The ONLY good thing I could say was that you are 10-15 minute drive to the airport.

  • Liked — short driving distance from airport
  • Disliked — paid almost $400 for the night and got sleeper sofas that you couldn't sleep on

We stayed here for one night on July 8, 2008. It was in a good location, about midway between downtown Sacramento and the airport. The hotel was difficult to find if one does not know the area, as we did not. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the lady who takes care of the breakfast buffet in the morning. The breakfast was good with waffles, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, cereals and sausage, which was unfortunately overcooked and bone dry. The room was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Pillows were plush and firm. Bed was great and we slept very well. The room is a small suite with good lighting, refrigerator, coffee maker which did not work, above-average amenities. I've stayed in nicer and newer Spring Hill Suites and like the chain very much. This particular one was in the B/B+ range, but I would stay here again.

Stopped in Sacramento on our drive from Portland, Oregon to Southern Cal. Hotel was conveniently located off freeway (you could see it) but far enough that you didn't hear the freeway noise/traffic. Check in & check out was a breeze, front desk was friendly professional. There was some sort of sports team(high school?) staying there with a bunch of young teens hanging around, but we could not hear them at all from inside our hotel room. Room was very clean, pleasant smelling, an an actual suite-seperate working area divided by a wall from the bed room. THe refrigerator & free coffee were a nice touch in the room. The bed was comfy, sheets were soft, the comforter so fluffy, towels were adequate, The breakfast was good,-eggs, potatoes, toast, yogurt, fruit, sausage, juices, etc. ... parking easy, location convenient to freeway access, gas stations, food establishments, etc. My only con was the water pressure from the shower head flucutated depending upon the usage from other rooms, and it was low flow-so no matter how high you turned the knob, you couldn't get a high/fast spray.
Overall a very nice hotel stay.

  • Liked — CONVENIENT LOCATION, PRICE, large room
  • Disliked — LOW flow showerhead

I travel to Sacramento on business and stayed at Springhill for about a month in Apr 08. For the price, it's not a bad place to lay your head. The rooms are not true suites and more like regular hotel rooms, but with a little more in terms of a fridge and a couch and chair upon entry. The location is a little off the beaten path from the airport or from downtown sacramento and there are a few places nearby to eat (ex., baja fresh, carls jr., in-n-out, etc.) There isn't anything overly impressive about the hotel and the service leaves a little something to be desired (clogged tub, forgotten wake-up call, broken ice machine, etc.). The fitness center here is very small, only 3 three cardio machines, no weights, but there is a running path nearby and residential and commercial areas that don't boast a lot of traffic so you can feel safe running outdoors. There is a hot breakfast in the mornings with scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes, as well as other breakfast items like cereal, bagels, juice, yogurt, waffles, etc. I decided to switch and try out some other places mainly because of the service issues and just to try something new.

  • Liked — Quiet location
  • Disliked — Small fitness center

Really, this hotel is a good place to stay for what it is. However, a few things that led me to switch hotels (I decamped to the Res Inn downtown) mid week:

If you don't know where you're going (like me), the hotel is hard to find. I could see the darn place but couldn't get to it. Not fun at 11 pm after you've just flown across the country. They put me on the side of the hotel facing the freeway. Unless you are lulled to sleep by the sound of semis roaring by at 80 mph, this is not fun.

The kitchen had knives, but no cutting board. Automatic dish soap, but no hand dish soap.

the internet was spotty at best. the Tv, compared to competitors, small and equipped with only the bare hotel cable channel lineup.

I'll admit I'm a picky traveler but just in case there are any other travel divas out there, thought they should be aware.

  • Liked — the bed
  • Disliked — the noise from the adjacent freeway
