This Scott's has the potential for a great spot (even though some "foodies" say to never expect much when dining in a place with a view). We've been a few times and tried same dishes and sampled different ones. One night certain items will be great and the next time..not so great. This restaurant is in serious need of a quality control person - someone who oversees food coming out of the kitchen.

It's not particularly good or terrible..it's just blaaah. Servers are not sophisticated (saying things like "can you just wait before you order because I just took a really long order from that table and I don't want to forget what you say" what thu??). Just kind of a good place to take out-of-town guests. Last night we had plates crashing to the floor as busboys missed the bin for dirty dishes. It would have been fine if we were in a Greek restaurant, cooked on Ouzo and yelling "Opa!"

We will try it again as river restaurants are surprisingly few in Sac.

(and could they put a smaller pour of wine in a bigger glass??!!! it makes it look like you've ordered a gulp)

We were very excited to try the new restaurant on the river but it was a waste of time. The service was not great, very slow and not particularly friendly. I have eaten at Scott in the bay area and one in the fair oaks area.
The chowder was excellent, the salad was ok, but the blackened snapper I ordered was inedible. It was like the cook took a piece of fish sprinkled a bunch of Chili powder on it and threw it on the grill. No flavor except chile powder. Dry and nasty. You notice I didn't say chef.
I didn't want to send it back but I should have, we paid the bill and walked out. We won't be back.
I had great expectations that were dashed!

My friend and I Went There Because we love Scott's. But the
service was slow, and our bartendar was not very attentive.
All The other Scott's are Great! The Food was great when ,we got it.The bartendar acted liked he was the manager and was not very nice. This Would never happen in Oakland or Walnut Creek. So being on the Delta with all the Big boaters and Yacht
Clubs I'm not sure they are going to make it. Service is what
keeps a clientale coming back. You can be nice and professional at the same time. Stuck up will not cut it ,because
we will go up the river to spend our money. They always seem to appreciate us. We big boaters have alot of Sail outs to other
Yacht Clubs and water destinations. From what we were told
there is no dock space unless we are staying in the Hotel. So I
guess Yacht Club sail outs and over nites will not be accomadated. Scott's should take note. We would like to come there on our Yachts but, there would be no where to put them. You should consult with other water destinations and see
how they accomadate everyone some with Valet parking for your boat. They make space for everyone!

This is based only on the service and not the food, as we did not get a chance to eat. We went one afternoon about 3 pm for drinks and apps. It was a beautiful afternoon and we wanted to sit on the lovely patio. It was about 1/2 full. Just looking at the people on the patio, they seemed uncomfortable with no shade screens and the two fire pits were going full blast even though it was 80 degrees out. We went inside to see the hostess. She informed us we could not sit outside (even though 1/2 the tables were empty) but could sit inside now. We decided to walk around the grounds instead. When we headed back 20 mins later to see if we could sit outside, which was now 1/3 full, one couple had just sat down at a table and were informed by the waitress, that they had to get up and wait for the hostess. We just left at that point.

With a restaurant with a generally good reputation, new location it seems fair to give them a second chance...
Scott's really needs to get it together at the Rivage!. Service was extremely slow and heard others at the next table complaining about the quality of the food before we even got ours. First we waited for a server, then coffee which was not good then utensils then just gave up and left. My mother had been here before -similar experience bad food and service. Shared her feedback with the management hoping for an improvement. 2nd miss and never again!
