My husband, 2 yr old, and I went to Old Town Sacramento to celebrate our 5 yr anniversary. The hotel has a great location, within walking distance to Old Town. We had an early check-in which I recommend asking for since the lobby was packed at regular check in time. We did request a crib which was not delivered and we had to ask a few times for it but it was probably because we checked in early, no big deal. The room was great, we were on the 8th floor overlooking the river and the bridge. So beautiful at night and fun to watch all the boats going by. The bridge did raise up at about 9:30 p.m. and a loud horn went off which would've woken us up if we were sleeping. That is the only time there was any loud noises. The cocktail hour was nice, but the line to get drinks was so long and the only snacks they had were popcorn, chips, and veggies which all ran out pretty quickly and were not replenished readily. The lobby was beautiful, service was great, room was clean and comfortable. It was nice having a separate room with a door since we had our son with us and he could nap or go to sleep at night and we didn't have to worry about watching tv or making noise. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding. Made to order eggs, omelletes, etc., juice, coffee, water, tea, soda, scrambled eggs, french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, various pastries, yogurt, they had everything and it was all very good! I do recommend trying to eat early though, it did get busy after about 9 a..m.

“Great for families”

Embassy Suites Hotel Sacramento - Riverfront Promenade

This hotel worked really well for us. We are a family of four with a teenage boy and girl. Having the suite, allowed each to have their "own" room, and the space for us, the parents was great. We had a view of the river which was so calming and nice. Lots of families in this hotel, and yet it was still quiet. The staff was lovely and helpful and the breakfast was a cut above most I've had in other Embassy Suites. A couple of quibbles: the pool is the size of a postage stamp (don't expect to swim laps) and the water pressure isn't great in the shower, but these were small things. You are across the street from Old Sacramento and just down the street from the Capitol.

Our experience at this hotel was quite good. The lobby is beautiful, the room first rate and very quiet, and the beds were great. The location has both good and bad aspects ... it's across from Old Sacramento, and about a mile from the capitol. It IS tough when driving, to HAVE to use the valet ,and pay $18 a night for parking, and it's not ideal to be on the tiny plot of land between the freeway and the river. However, the river side is lovely, and quiet. And knowing the negatives ahead of time, we were not put off by them. We enjoyed both breakfast and cocktail hour, and would definitely stay there again. It's one of the more attractive Embassy Suites we've stayed in recently.

Nothing worked in room - refrigerator, phone, safe all broken. They didn't even have a room for me for several hours, despite having my reservation. Carpets and sheets are threadbare. Bathtub was clogged. Breakfast was awful. Pool and fitness rooms are jokes.
Convenience store always closed.
At these prices they really need to clean up their act.

My family ( 2 adults, 2 children - 7 & 9) stayed at the Embassy 2 days. The shuttles to and from the capitol building were prompt and convenient. We had a beautiful view from the 6th floor of the waterway. I had a wonderful night's rest in the king bed, but when I laid down on the pull out bed for a quick nap -horrible! But my girls didn't seem to mind the pull out. Our breakfast was very nice - even for free. We had an enjoyable stay and would recommend the Embassy.
