THE GOOD

The hotel is very close to the train museum which is why we stayed here. With two young kids, we couldn't resist going to the Polar Express event offered at the train museum and this hotel is just blocks away....very convenient. The hotel itself packs some nice amenities including an indoor pool, a basic fitness room, and a rather outstanding complimentary breakfast buffett. The expanse of the hotel lobby was quite promising; it had a little hint of a nice resort. I should also note that our initial interactions with the hotel team were very positive in that the reservationist was very accomodating and the valet seemed helpful and concerned about us. The room set up was nice; we liked having a separate sleeping area from the living room.

THE BAD

After our initial positive service experience, the rest of the services we were provided was spotty at best. Our room key was de-magnetized somehow while we were at the pool and it took 3 calls and finally a trip to the front desk to get some attention. Not very service oriented. I was actualy told "that someone was on the way" but no-one ever came. I could actually see 3 employees at the front desk (2 at the resgistration booth and 1 security guard) just standing there while we were waiting.....no hustle....Poor guest focus.

The room itself was musty and the shower head suffered from some caked on mildew. And then again, let me mention housekeeping service. Neither our room nor our travel companions' rooms were cleaned. Housekeeping conveniently comes by just as we return from a day out with the kids (approximately 6 hours of being away) and then asks if we'd like to have our room serviced. Wonderful, just as the boys are nodding off for a nap. We probably would have given them the benefit of the doubt had our friends not suffered the same issue. Poor guest focus.

THE UGLY

There were very few smiles given by the employees here. Not sure what the deal is with that.. Everything just seemed so unwelcoming. Exactly the opposite of what I would expect from someone in the hospitality industry.

To top it off, the bell staff lied to us. I won't go into the any more details on that as it will just get me going again.....but it was consistent with what I was coming to expect from the staff here.

IN CONCLUSION

For the price point, I wasn't expecting 5 star anything, but I did have some basic expectations. I rated this a "2" because we did enjoy the breakfast and the size of the room. Unless there is some compelling reason in the future, we will not be staying at am Embassy Suites again.

Just spent two nights at Embassy Suites in Sacramento. Second time we've stayed there. Had Riverview last time and this time had other side of the hotel with view of the whole city and looked down on Interstate-5. Our choice next time would be the view of the city and I-5 again. The River view side is not that great, certianly not worth paying extra for. As last time, we were not disappointed at all. Very comfortable place to stay. The free evening reception and breakfast and the heated indoor pool and hot tub are a huge plus. Everything was great.. Staff very kind and friendly, accomodation and food also great. So close to Old Town, Westfield Mall, Crocker Art Museum, and then the Capital about a half mile walk. What a great city!

Ok no hotel is perfect. As a Hilton Honors GOLD VIP, God knows I stay in my fair share of hotels. For the amount of times I critique hotels I can honestly say that this Embassy Suites hotel is truly the best I have stayed in yet! YES IT IS THE BEST EMBASSY SUITES I HAVE STAYED IN YET.

The G.M. Charles and his team truly strive to go above and beyond in demonstrating true hospitality. Granted the restaurant's food is not the best, but this hotel makes up for it in every other way.

1. The hotel reservations are correct!
2. The rooms are very very clean.
3. The staff responds quickly to concerns, and is always helpful and also respectful.
4. The property is beautiful.

Maybe it's because I have been a repeat customer, I don't know. However, one year I had two reservations a month and a half apart, and Charles corrected a unequal hotel charge issue, and he provided me with the same rate for both reservations.

While in Sacramento this is where I stay!

Staff at the check-in told us we are not at either the river side or the I-5 interstate highway side. Well, we stayed on the south side of the hotel where we had the view of the partial river and pretty much the I-5 heading south. We were on the 5th floor but the noise level was really bad and the I-5 interstate is not exactly quiet after hours. It is busy all day. The room was avarage. It was clean but the quality was less exciting. I have seen Hampton inns with better amenities and furnitures. We stayed with our 4 year old kid so it worked out good but if you are looking for a romantic getaway, this place is not for you. You mind as well pay a bit more and stay at better ones.

I was impressed with the high caliber of service provided by this hotel on a recent 5-day stay on business. All Embassy Suites hotels look exactly alike to me, but this one was distinguished by its helpful, efficient, courteous staff. My suite was sparkling clean and everything functioned well. At times I had to work in my suite, so appreciated the ample workspace, comfortable seating and excellent lighting. My room, on the 7th floor, had an uninspiring view of the interstate and got a bit of traffic noise. The noise wasn't enough to bother me, but I wouldn't have wanted to be on a lower floor on that side of the building.
The buffet breakfast was excellent, esp. the cooked-to-order omelettes. The free happy hour was nice too, on the one evening I managed to make it there.
The hotel charges $25 a day for valet parking (with in and out privileges) and $10 a day for high-speed Internet. The parking may seem pricey but at least it was efficient - I was very happy esp. with the speed and courtesy of the parking attendants. The hotel has a free airport shuttle; you can also use that van for free transportation around town if it's not booked for airport runs. One night, my colleagues and I went to dinner at a restaurant about 1.5 miles away from the hotel. We got free rides both to and from the hotel in the courtesy van, just by asking at the front desk.
Overall, I was happy with this Embassy Suites for making a hectic, stressful business trip more comfortable and pleasant.
