My boyfriend and I booked a room with a King bed and a view through Orbitz.com toward the end of 2008. When we arrived in the room it was dark and appeared to be okay. Everything was fine until we pulled down the bedsheets to check the cleanliness of our bed (a habit I practice any time I'm not sleeping in my own bed). We were horrified to discover bright red blood on the bottom layer sheet toward the foot of the bed. It was not a small spot and VERY noticeable. We also discovered what appeared at first to be minute pieces of dirt, but each little tiny oval-shaped piece (of WHATEVER it was) consistently had the exact same size (reminded me of lice eggs) and shape, and didn't really seem to be dirt at all. YUCK! We lifted the pillows off the bed and found the same dirtiness, with a little hair thrown in the mix.
SO, we called the front desk and told them what we discovered. We waited about 5 - 10 minutes for someone to come upstairs with a key to the room next door (he didn't even inspect what we alleged was wrong with the first room, maybe they already knew!). The attendant left and we moved our belongings over to the new room. Without hesitation we pulled down the bedcovers and discovered the bottom sheet had numerous holes in it. We didn't even bother to get close enough to inspect for dirt, eggs, hair, etc. (It appeared to us that they must have had a 'special' floor for discount website bookings). We called the front desk again and told them of the new problem. After a nice 10 - 15 minute wait, someone came up and actually inspected the discepancy this time. After acknowledging that we were telling the truth, he offered us a third room, which we declined and found somewhere else to stay. At the front desk when we checked out, we asked for our money back given the circumstances...shame on us for not booking directly with the hotel because they couldn't address invoicing since we did not book the room directly with them.
Won't make that mistake again!
