My husband and I stayed at this hotel while visiting my brother in CA. His Girlfriend works for Marriott so she was able to get us a "friends and family" rate, which is why we stayed here. I have always liked Marriott, so it would have been on our list either way.
The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. The hotel lobby and other common rooms, including the restaurant look very new, although I was told that they were scheduled to have the lobby re-modeled soon. The room was a typical Marriott room, with refrigerator and free wi-fi. The bathroom door was HUGE (this was not a handicap accessible room) and although I thought it looked strange, it didn't affect our stay at all! Everything in the room was clean and worked properly. Our room was made-up early each day (which was great for when we came back to the room mid-day for a nap and everything was fresh). The hotel is close to restaurants, downtown Sacramento and the highway. It's about 20 minutes from the airport (with no traffic!).
Our upstairs neighbors were very noisy the first night, and the front desk person was willing to switch us to another room if we wanted, but the neighbors checked out before the second night. I was pleased that they were going to move us without a fuss. We had lunch one day in the restaurant, and although the food was ok, it wasn't anything special- if you have the time, I would recommend going to a local restaurant in downtown rather than eat at the hotel. But for a convenient meal, it wasn't terrible.
The free coffee in the lobby wasn't half bad, and the small convenience shop in the lobby had a decent variety of foods "to go" (ie: breakfast bars, drinks, beer, cheese, fruit, sandwhiches, candy, etc) and reasonable prices (nutri-grain bar was $1)
The only complaint I have (and I am a light sleeper, so this may not bother you), was that the bed creaked a lot and you could hear other people in the rooms besides, above and below walk around, open and close doors, turn on/off water, etc. The only thing I didn't hear was other people's TV's and conversation.
