A do not miss place in Sacramento--guided tours, museum and much history in a great building that is open on Sunday, which we found rare for a state capitol building. Beautiful grounds, gardens and monuments.

Great place for kids of all ages. Several tours available. See the dome, it's beautiful. Outside gardens are worth the trek.

My friend and I visted after being in Sacramento at a convention for a week. The park and capitol building was wonderful! We visited early in the morning and the building was relatively quiet with a few tourists and mostly employees inside. We walked the whole building and were really impressed by it and loved the gift shop too. I would love to go again and would visit the capitol again.

Even though I went on the tour on a July mid day, I was very impressed with the Park Ranger who let us rest in the shade of a tree while giving us more information.
There are trees from many states that have been growing there for many years. Also, be sure to see the memorial for our veterans of different wars. Also, I enjoyed the "rose garden" which was a memorial.

Inside the Capitol, the dioramas from each county in the state give you a picture of the state's diversity.
