Just a stay shy from renewing HHonors Gold, I was looking for a hotel that would put me well into the threshold as well as having a complimentary airport shuttle that I could use during my trip to Sacramento.

Pick-up from Sacramento International Airport was quick : just gave a call to the hotel and thankfully arrived just when the driver was on his way!

Check-in was just as seamless with a friendly agent welcoming me and patient in asking my plethora of questions. ;)

No problems with the room itself. Little/no noise from the nearby freeway and from my neighbors. The microwave and refrigerator was definitely handy!

As for restaurant choices within walking distance: they *do* exist! It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel but there's a decent variety of choices which include fast food options such as Togos, Jack in the Box, and Carls Jr, along with three Asian restaurants.

All in all, this stay was what I expected from an HGI. Unless the Embassy Suites would get any cheaper, I'd definitely consider staying here again in future trips to the area!

I booked the hotel for $99 (no breakfast included) for weekend and after that we extended our stay for Monday night for thr same price. Breakfast (buffet) is provided and was found VERY good. The best breakfast of all 10 hotels our family (a couple and a kid of 11) stayed in October. Costs like $11 per person.
Good, large rooms, very clean, cosy environment. Good location: it is not in downtown (so no street noise) but close to old sacramento and downtown. Two lights to a freeway. Generally speaking it is a business hotel however I have come to the idea that on weekends some returning non-business customers come here for staying. It looks like this hotel established certain reputation.
We enjoyed our staying here especially well-trained and friendly staff.

Location:
The hotel is conveniently located and it's a very short ride to Downtown (about 3 miles). There are plenty of restaurants in a two mile radius, but nothing in walking distance aside from the hotel restaurant.

Rates:
We got a double queen room for $80 on a weekend thanks to the AAA-Discount.

Rooms:
Nice, cozy and very clean.
They are equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, nice alarmclock with iPod hookup and of course a CRT TV.
I recommend asking for a room facing the pool area since they should be more quiet than the ones with the "freeway-view".

There's also a desk with chair where you can connect to the free internet service. In addition, there's a lounging chair with a reading lamp.

The beds are comfortable and not worn out. Plenty of good pillows, too.
Bathroom is good but does not have a ceiling fan.

Pool area is very well maintained, they also have a hot tub that can hold up to three people.

We also used the guest laundry which was very clean and well kept, which is an often neglected amenity in other hotels.

I stayed at the HGI one night in June to attend a graduation at UC Davis. My standard room was large and even with two queen beds there was room for a desk and a stuffed chair. Each room has an empty refrigerator and microwave. The business center computer and printer were free for the guests. The breakfast buffet was above average for this sort of business hotel. My "made to order" omlet was perfect.
The airport shuttle leaves every hour and gets you to and from the airport in 15 minutes. The towels I had were soft and on par with other hotels so I do not agree with the guest who complained about towels. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
