I'm New to Trip advisor and just wrote a review about a fun place in Old Sacramento, but found this listing as well. The Place is Called, River City Saloon. It was a great place right near the Railroad museum and it has great deli sandwiches, as well as it was decorated like an old west saloon. We had a a fun time.

We stayed at the Delta King in Old Sacramento for one night after our Amtrak train trip from Denver. Our train pulled in 6 hours late and we didn't arrive at the Delta King until after 10pm. We were surprised to not find any restaurants open after 10pm. So, we got up early, starving, to find that they don't open until 10am the next day. Thought that was surprising since I would think that some of those restaurants would serve breakfast and coffee early.

Despite that small glitch in things, we thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the streets. Found some yummy freshly baked pastries and coffee, found some cute touristy things to purchase, and enjoyed the beautiful Sacramento weather.

One thing I noticed, most of the sidewalks are woodsy type cobblestone and I think it would be very bumpy for a child in a stroller.

Wish we could have spent more time in Old Sacramento. Would definitely visit again.

Old Sacramento is a quaint, nice place with some historic buildings, museums, tourist shops, and candy stores. There's one candy store that even lets you sample almost anything, as long as you eat the candy in the store! Also, there is a great place for a quick clam chowder and clam strips right by the Delta King hotel. Although the area may be turning into more of a tourist trap than an actual historic site, I would highly suggest a visit to Old Sacramento, especially if you have a few hours to spare!

Stop by one of the candy shops for free taffy samples & a huge variety old-syle candy. Get a Western-style picture or take a train ride. Summer time offers different activities. Jazz festival in April, Pioneer days in June (?). Great for all ages. Evangeline's has unique & funny gifts. Plenty of tourist traps, but they are all fun. Catch a Rivercats Basebell game nearby, the park is really good for a minor league team.

When my shopaholic wife dragged me to Old Sacramento I hadn't expected to find anything I'd enjoy, boy was I surprised!
As a Rick Hound, I was very pleasantly surprised to find the Ology Rock Shop, an unexpected store with many unusual mineral specimens, fossils and crystals. Now when she wants to go to Old Sac I am eager to share the journey and shop for minerals.

The Railroad Museum is another fascinating place not to be missed! The Pony Express statue and the Wells Fargo Museum were gave me a feeling for the old west that was once Old Sacramento.
