I just stayed at the Citizen Hotel last week. It was a wonderful hotel stay. My favorite now in the downtown area. Rooms are a bit smaller than the Hyatt or Sheraton, but much nicer!
Enjoy!
I believe Governor Arnold (I can't spell Schwarzenegger) stays at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency.
If it hasn't started snowing too much in the mountains, try to make it up to Lake Tahoe. Otherwise, I like the train museum and Sutter Fort in town if you are a history buff.
Regarding 4* hotels I would pick between the Citizen, Hyatt or Sheraton downtown. They are all within a few blocks of each other and high quite nice. The Hyatt has one of our favorite restaurants, Dawson's.
Places to visit.
- Old Sacramento
- Railroad Museum
- State Capitol
- Sutters Fort
- Stanford Mansion
- Governor's Mansion
- Crocker Art Gallery
- California Aeropsace Museum (at the old Mcllelan Air Base)
- Many other small museums
You will be here on a Second Saturday for the Art Walk. On the Second Saturday of each month head downtown around 17th and L streets. Go in to one of the businesses and pick up a map of the art galleries that are open that night. There are usually alot of people out and about and the galleries stay open later. see http://2nd-sat.com/ or http://www.sacramentoartwalk.com/ and also midtowngrid.com/directory/view/entry/20608
Forgot to mention Yosemite. You should not miss it!!
Thanks a lot!... that's what i would say if i had to stay in Sacramento for 10 days in December. haha.
I hope it's business related & you're making lots of money!
Hi, there is also an Embassy Suites in downtown Sacramento. I like it becuase they are bigger rooms, which are nice, they serve breakfast free, and have a free happy hour in the evening.
Le Rivage http://www.lerivagehotel.com/ is by far the nicest hotel in Sacramento and is on the River.
10-days. I would say try to spend a day in San Francisco (90 minutes to 2 hour drive), Napa (wine tasting about 1 hr 15 minute drive) Tahoe (about the same time as San Fran).
There is Old Sacramento, which is fun to walk around in. There are old mining towns close by which have nice downtown areas to walk around in.
If I were you, I would head up to the foohills...but then I'm partial! The Gold Country has lots of fun history and it's beautiful...especially if there's clear weather. check out this website
You can spend a day visiting Coloma, Auburn, Grass Valley and end up in Nevada City. Dec 2nd is the first day their Victorian Christmas Celebration.
Wouldn't the fact that the governor stays at that hotel be a major reason to avoid staying there? He smokes cigars and believes that secondhand smoke only travels upwards.
