Honestly, the trek from Davis to Old Sacramento is quit short. Not sure why you don't want to drive, but there is plenty of parking garages around there and its right off the freeway.

Here's a link to a Google Map with directions on how to get to Old Sac. It's an easy drive.

If I can rent a car at Heathrow and survive the Roundabouts from there to Tenby, Wales and back through Bath To Dover then you can make it from Davis to Old Sacramento.

There's a parking garage right under the Freeway as you pass under it on 'I' Street.

Thanks for all the input, only thing was we have a gala dinner in the evening and need to be back, so were trying to take the variable of traffic jams out of the equation on our return. We thought this might be a busy commuter road. Cheers Angie
