Any recommendations on reasonable accomodation for one night in Sacramento?

Given what you asked, I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express, INTOWN, not Natomas airport. Its on 16th Street.
The reviews speak for themselves on TA, and this one gets generally good reviews for a hotel in this price range. Very secure. Walkable area of town, many food choices nearby.
Good luck.
Do you need to be near anything/anywhere? Budget?
We are basically wanting to see Sacramento Ford but i don't have the address for that at the moment anyway! I was just wanting to get somewhere that was safe really and if it's near some good food spots that's a bonus...
Sacramento Ford? I assume you don't mean the auto dealership, but instead want to see what used to be called the Towe Ford Museum, but is now the California Auto Museum

It is at 2200 Front Street, Sacramento.
Pretty long walk from 16th street/Holiday Inn Express.
On the Sacramento side of the river, you'd be walking distance from Old Sacramento (Holiday Inn, Delta King, Embassy Suites) all of which I think of as "reasonable" but they do not fall in the same affordable category as Holiday Inn Express.
On the West Sacramento side of the river (walking across the Tower Bridge) there are a number of cheapo motels along West Capitol Avenue, none of which I feel really comfortable recommending, but perhaps someone knows one a cut above the rest.
In any event, if its the museum you're looking for, this should help pin down the area of town you want to stay in.
I can recommend the Vagabond Inn Executive Old Town, but not sure if this is near where you want to stay. It was within walking distance to Old Town Sacramento and restaurants.
