First to camp at Folsom lake -Peninsula, 7/4/08, but we had had a bad experienced with a park ranger, who was disrespectful, mean, abuse of authority, acted like a goon while giving a very mean and a threatening instructions to a group of family, who were sitting in a chair resting after having a good dinner. This ranger shows that he was uneducated person and does not belong to be a park ranger. He surreptitiously appeared behind us without prior notice and immediately gave a threatening words of instructions"wheew". The following day, I learned from other campers that the same ranger did the same thing to them by introducimg himself as a cop and harrasing them. I then contacted his immediate supervisor the following day and informed of the incident and promised to take care of everything against this individual (hope so!). I strictly recommend to all campers not to think of going to Folsom Lake Peninsula or face the same consequences.

We'll not come back again to this campground and will inform other friends and relatives to stop going to Folsom Lake-Peninsula.....

Danny

Ya think maybe the fact that many of you were "well into the drunk phase" may have something to do with the reason you were contacted or your impression of the State Park Peace Officer's conduct?

How about the fact that the poor guy has to deal with 100 campsites, half of them full of drunken idiots disturbing the families that are actually there to camp. He is usually by himself and 45 minutes away from any sort of help or back-up. FYI- He's just as tired of dealing with you as you are of him, so he'stransfering to another park in October...

Hi Annieoakley29,

Just to let you know, we just had a good dinner that night and relaxing in a chairs with my daughters, nieces, wife, son and son in law, when this arrogant park ranger, who came from nowhere showed up and gave a threatened words/instructions to us. He don't even say a nice words or a diplomatic approach and instead he treated us like a radical group of people. We don't drink liqours or smoke cigarettes and none of us in the family don't have those bad habits. We loved camping and we enjoyed it very much and will continue till the next generations. Wish you were there to see and witness the incident and to evaluate his performances as a park ranger. I met and encountered many park rangers from different campgrounds and all of those are very nice, respectful, well educated and approachable. Furthermore, We are not the only one who were complaining against this erring park ranger, but families from other campsites too. Wish this guy be transferred to an isolated campground with no people around....

"18 of us were just chatting around the fire - not even close to the being the loudest group in the area - and he came down to our site (scaring the hell out of us because he and his buddy snuck up on us without warning) and then proceeded to give us a 20 minute lecture that if we didn't get rid of the campfire and go into our tents within 10 minutes he would evict us from our site (not great considering a few people were well into the drunk phase). We complied."

Not there so do not know all the facts however Drinking is strictly forbidden in State Park Camp Grounds. Also Quite hour is 10:00 PM & ALL

noise is to cease then. Even earlier loud behavior is not NOR should it be tolerated. State Parks are not for Booze parties but to commune peacefully with nature!

By the way susie-travels ... I actually can tell the difference between a movie character and a real person. Meant to be tongue in cheek. Obviously no sense of humor that day for you, lol!

Hi peddler655,

You are absolutely right....Park rangers are there to cease any disturbances,to control any unruly situations for the sake of other campers. We really understand their duties and really appreciate that....The only thing he did was harrasing other campers who were not involved in a drinking session from other campsites (if there was). He acted like a goon, mean, verbal abuse and disrespectful to others. AT exactly 10pm, that night, we complied as

per instructions ,but thinking of what we,(family) did wrong despite we are really far from other campers.

It's illegal to have a beer while camping at a State Park? That is ridiculous.

Danny, this guy sounds nutty. This behaviour was completely unprofessional.

Alcohol is banned at Folsom Lake's day use areas, which Peninsula campground is part of, however it is allowed in the campsites.
