I read the reviews, some very negative saying dirty, smells, etc., but many saying charming and attractive, so I had a little trepidation. But I and a colleague needed a night's lodging for a business conference, and the brand name hotels were over $200/room/night, so I took a chance and booked us two rooms at Vizcaya. I was pleasantly surprised.... more

I feel badly, but must agree with others that this inn really needs some TLC. The carpet in my room was worn and stained and the shower had pockets of mold - ugh. In general, I like places with some history, charm, and character, but this was not it. The common room was also not inviting or comfortable -- four... more

Great place to stay...was nice and quaint....staff was helpful and pleasant....breaksfast was great and room service was helpful....other guests were not considerate....they were loud and rude.....no consideration for guests sleeping after 5:30 a.m. They drug their suitcase down the stairs, slammed door and let alarm ring for 10 minutes at 4:45 a.m. Would stay again.... more

We had our wedding at the Vizcaya in 2007 and the customer service was very poor, downright unprofessional. The hotel coordinator arrived one hr. before the start of the ceremony (2 hrs later than promised), leaving our friends and families to set up the details she was supposed to attend to. The staff knew all along that the coordinator would... more

On two days notice we decided to go to the Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Jubilee -- and soon found that any rooms close to the Jubilee sites (which are scattered over several miles) -- were going to be marked up for the big event. Luckily I thought of checking for Bed & Breakfasts (using the Expedia link from traveladvisor) because that... more

My Husband and I stayed at the Vizcaya hotel for our anniversary, The Innkeepers are the nicest people I have ever came across. I went in there not having much money and they worked with me, They gave me there master suite at a very reasonable price, I talked with the innkeeper Angela and I was telling her how I... more

My husband and I were married at the Vizcaya. We had a really great experience. From planning to walking down the aisle we really enjoyed our experience. We were sooo busy before the actual wedding we were unable to meet Elizabeth (wedding coordinator) until the day of the wedding or even rehearse the night before. We had driven to Sacramento... more

I find that the reviews of hotels generally are slanted to the few who have a gripe to make. Most people who enjoy a hotel don't run home to write about it, but those who don't, can't seem to stop. As a result, I try to write both with equal vigilance. That said...be forewarned. The Vizcaya is absolutely wanting for... more

We stayed here on our wedding night. What a dump! The furniture was dirty (white/stained brown) chairs in room, dirty bathroom, and lousy service. The room was advertised with a fireplace. We called the concierge for some firewood and they said "Why do you need firewood? It's summertime!" No firewood was available. So, it was certainly a memorable night. Oh,... more

This place is a dump. I recently attended a wedding & stayed in one of their rooms at the Vizcaya. The whole thing was a disaster. The wedding plans got completely messed up, they lost the bride and grooms alcohol (which she provided for the reception) and botched the dinner service, Staff was no where to be found the entire... more
